About the author
After an eight-year career as a high school French teacher, Corinne McKay
started her freelance French to English translation business in
2002. Finding very little information on the practical aspects of
starting a translation business, she learned, often the hard way,
how to launch, run and grow a successful translation
business. Today, Corinne is certified by the American Translators
Association, was selected as a presenter for the 2004-2008 annual ATA conferences, served as the Administrator of the ATA French language division from 2006-2008 and is the current (2008-2010) President of the Colorado Translators Association. Based on her experiences "in the
trenches" of launching a freelance translation business, she
developed and teaches the popular online course Getting Started as
a Freelance Translator, and is a regular contributor
to translation industry publications and websites. Corinne has a
B.A. in French and English from Geneseo College and the University
of Grenoble, France, and an M.A. in French Literature from Boston
College. She lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband and
daughter.
